VH1 Hip Hop Honors

on

This year Hip Hop Honors was amazing show to witness in person, highlighting The 90s Game Changers !! The era I grew up watching hoping to one day be a part of. Not knowing that one day I was going to be working with some of Hip Hop most legendary artist ever! It was an amazing experience having the opportunity to come out and see some of my favorite artist bring back those 90s vibes. I want to thank everyone who helped me obtain this look! @HairAreUs for the wonderful hair, Anthony Cherry @KingOfHair for setting and styling my hair, and Toni Bradshaw @TheMrBradshaw for make-up. My outfit I picked out from a shop called American Vintage off Melrose.

Below I added some clips of my favorite performances I had the pleasure of witnessing and Also my transformation and how I got ready the day of the show. Hope you like it!

Missy Elliott

Suited up in a black trench coat with jewels on her face, Missy’s performance mirrored the visuals of the Hype Williams-directed video that accompanied the single when it was first released. The video, which cost over a whopping $2 million to produce, is still one of the most expensive music videos of all time.
This song and her performance in so many ways represents the best of the ‘90s: from Timbaland’s thudding production to the accompanying Hype Williams’ music video. Not to mention Missy’s supa dupa fly dance moves.

Hype Williams

ONE OF MY FAVORITE DIRECTORS OF ALL TIME!! Someone I can call and check on and who I’ve admired over the years. I hope to get work with one day on one of my personal projects, Hype Williams Accepts Honor and discusses how he helped elevate music videos starting in the 1990s.

Teyana Taylor’s Dance Medley

My girl Teyana Taylor stops the show with a dance medley honoring some of the ’90s biggest hits. Loved it T.T. Git It Gurrrrrl!!!
